Practical ways to get involved:

  • £20 will buy 4 balls – rounder’s kit – cricket kit or cooking utensils
  • £100 will buy food for cookery lessons – kits for the SkyWay street art project – cost of venue hire for sports sessions for 3 hours – qualification for young person to become an FA level 1 Coach or Referee.
  • £500 will buy a full kit for football for 10 players (2 five-a-side teams) – 2 workers to run workshops in street art or pottery
  • £1,000 will buy an educational day trip for 20 young people – support a peer coach for 6 months of the year
  • £5,000 will buy a residential trip outside of Hackney for 10 young people

There are three ways for you to get involved with Young People:

Time

We are always looking for volunteers to get involved. You can choose where you would like to volunteer and the amount of time you have to give.

Have you thought about?

  1. Refereeing football or Basketball tournaments and leagues
  2. Becoming a Mentor to a Young Person
  3. Running a programme or session within a programme area
  4. Becoming a trustee
  5. Becoming a SkyWay supporter and participate in our ‘Pass it on’ campaign

Resources

Offer your expertise and skills to help us help young people.

  1. Offer Work experience opportunities
    Create work experience placements for Young People in different areas of your business where they can develop skills and learn about the business with the support of a staff member allocated to support them.
  2. Gifts in kind
    We require expertise from time to time, including legal, marketing and publicity, website development and lobbying to name just a few. Staff can give their expertise and knowledge to work with SkyWay to develop the organisation.
  3. Purchase equipment/ refreshments
    SkyWay require equipment, football kits, cups and trophies and refreshments for events that the Young People participate in throughout the year.
  4. Sponsorship
    You may like to sponsor an individual Young Person, a team or an event throughout the year.

Money

Get involved by raising money for us.

  1. Participate in fundraising events
    We have seven places on the London 10K run for 2011 and 2012 for volunteers to raise money for SkyWay.
