Hackney Help

In September of this year a team of 18 men and women from the Metropolitan Police, Crown Prosecution Service and Hackney Council ran and cycled in non-stop relay from Hackney to the French Mediterranean coast to raise money for Mcmillan Cancer Support, Chance UK and SkyWay. The team wanted to recognise and support the positive work we do in engaging with the young people of Hackney.

Hackney Town Hall was the starting point on 18th September 2008, for the runners to leg it to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The cyclists then picked up the baton for the haul to Montpellier on the south coast of France, completing the mammouth 1200km in just 72 hours.

And due to the resounding success of the event, the team have decided to make Hackney a la Med an annual event.

We would like to thank all those involved in this amazing event and encourage you to support them next year when they do it all over again.
