OPERATIONS TEAM
 
Gail Mistlin
Gail Mistlin, the Director of SkyWay was appointed in October 2006. She is responsible for the continued success of the organisation and its day to day running. She focuses on the strategic planning for SkyWay, fundraising and ensuring high quality delivery on all programme areas and development of effective partnership working in the voluntary sector.

Gail has a broad range of Management experience, encompassing, social care and youth services. She has worked in Hackney for a number of years in the not for profit sector.

Natalie Roast
Natalie Roast, the Training Programme Manager started at SkyWay in November 2007. She is responsible for the overall high quality delivery of SkyWay programmes and continued quality improvement and development of systems and processes.

Natalie has 5 years of management experience all of which are in Hackney for the not for profit sector.

Ebony Skerritt

Ebony is one of the founding members of the organisation. She started working at SkyWay in 2002 as a Project Worker. In 2003 Ebony became the Sports Programme Manager, organising the 2nd Annual Teenage Kicks Football Tournament and developing a volunteer programme that was given the best volunteer programme of the year award by Hackney Voluntary Action.

Ebony is currently Liaison Manager.

Rebecca Holland

Rebecca joined SkyWay in 2009 as the Operations & Resources Co-ordinator. She is responsible for the financial and administrative functions of the organisation.

Rebecca left her corporate career in Australia to go travelling and pursue a career in the not for profit sector in London. After completing a Diploma of Accounting in 2003 she worked primarily in financial management. Long term Rebecca wishes to make the transition into the charity sector and develop her skills in event management.

Joe Dobson

Joe has worked in the field of youth work and fundraising for a decade. He has worked in Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Hackney as both youth worker, youth work manager and fund-raiser.  Joe joined the SkyWay team in January 2009 as Fundraising Co-ordinator.

 

Joe has a degree in Human Resource Studies & Public Administration. He is also a qualified Sports Leader Tutor and has run youth football teams in a voluntary capacity for several years.  In the ancient past Joe was a DJ, playing club nights at, amongst other venues, the Hacienda in Manchester and Bagley’s in London. Nowadays, Joe has three small children and as a result has not had a good night’s sleep since the 1990s.

Richard Glynn

Richard joined SkyWay in December 2009 as a volunteer administrator before being taken on part-time as a volunteer coordinator where he was responsible for registering volunteers for upcoming programmes including Teenage Kicks tournament. He started working full-time as SkyWay's marketing and Admin officer in June 2010..

Before joining SkyWay Richard completed a BA in History and Philosophy at the University of Sheffield.

He is interested in developing a career in the charity sector in the long term.

Penelope Munday

Penelope joined Skywway in January 2010 as a volunteer and is currently a project worker on the SkyWay Reparations programme.

Prior to joining Skyway, she was a news reporter for the South African Press Association, a news agency in her native country of South Africa.

 

Penny has an honours degree in Journalism and her long term goal is to gain more experience in the charity sector. She also hopes to study further in youth work related courses to gain more experience in the field.

She likes reading, watching tennis and athletics.

BLUE HUT TEAM
 
Marlon Gayle
Marlon is the Sport Development Manager for SkyWay and  coordinates several programme and a wide range of sporting activities for young people in Hackney. Marlon has worked for SkyWay since April 2005 and has worked in the youth and community environment for over 8 years doing various things from coaching, advice and guidance and accounts.

Marlon supports TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS and currently takes part in various sporting activities in his spare time.

Daniel Mussie

Daniel joined SkyWay as a qualified Community Sports Coach at the end of September 2007, delivering regular football coaching sessions in the local community and the development of a new basketball tournament, Teenage Hoops. Daniel was promoted to the role of Development Officer ensuring all aspects of SkyWay’s work are developed effectively for young people.

Prior to joining SkyWay Daniel worked as a retail supervisor and then moved on to become a youth worker for the city YMCA at the Blue Hut.

Tipi Welsh

Tipi joined SkyWay in 2009 as a part time youth worker, whilst studying at Goldsmiths University for his BA (Honours) in Applied Social Sciences, Community Development and Youth Work. Tipi previously worked as a Support worker with young people who were at risk. Tipi also worked as a behaviour support worker in his native New Zealand with at risk youth.

Miquel Amortequi

Miguel joined SkyWay in February 2009 as a Media Facilitator. He will be developing the media hub programme which aims to provide young people with the opportunities to produce their own music, record their own songs, make their own music videos to a professional standard and support them to promote themselves in the industry.

 

Miguel has worked in the media industry for the past ten years working on a range of projects including short films, music videos and documentaries. His work has taken him to many locations including projects in Africa, South America and Europe. He is passionate about media and music as a means of expression for young people and the importance of providing people with creative outlets through which they can develop their skills.

 

Alex Shalts

Alex joined SkyWay in August 2009 as a part time youth worker.

She will be responsible for supporting a youth led activities programme for girls aged 13-19 living in the local community.

Alex has previously worked on various community projects including a motor-mechanics youth engagement programme, community arts, and homeless support work with the Big Issue. Alex is to begin studying at Goldsmiths University for a BA Hons in Education, Culture and Society, whilst looking forward to continuing to work closely with young people, helping to develop opportunities and broaden horizons.

OUTREACH & DETACHED TEAM
 
Steve Warner
Steve started as a volunteer during the 2003 Teenage Kicks football tournament and has continued to volunteer each year until October 2006. Steve, a qualified football and basketball coach, was employed by SkyWay as a Community Coach in the summer of 2007 to organise school holiday programmes, night league tournaments, corporate tournaments and regular coaching sessions in Youth Clubs and local schools. Steve has now taken on the role of Head Community Sports Coach.

 

Steve is currently playing for Arsenal in a veteran’s league and runs a Saturday morning football development club in the area.

Tania de St Croix

Tania is currently a detached Youth Worker operating in North East Hackney.

Tania began youth work as a volunteer in 1993 and has a wealth of experience in a variety of environments and settings including estate based youth work, play schemes, community canoeing projects, detached work and girl’s only groups. Tania previously worked as a Youth Worker for Elevate.

Bev Brooks

Bev began volunteering as a Youth Worker back in 2005 before taking on the role full time in 2009 with Elevate and now SkyWay.

Bev is very passionate about her work and specialises in detached work and engaging young people on their own 'turf'.  Currently she is enjoying doing one to one work and also delivers projects for young people not in work, education or training.

Emma Heard

Emma joined the Outreach & Detached team in November 2008 as a part time youth worker engaging young people on estates in North Hackney. Since May 2009 Emma has been working full time on a project working with young people aged 16 – 18 years to get back into employment, education and/or training. Projects currently include drama production and detached work.

Emma is currently studying for an MSc in Social Work.

Emma previously worked as a Youth Worker for Elevate.

Julia Betancour-Roth

Julia joined the Outreach & Detached team in November 2008 as a part time youth worker engaging young people on estates in North Hackney.

Julia has previous experience working with young children in a nursery in Sweden, and as a flamenco teacher with both children and adults.

Julia is currently studying for a BSc in Psychology at Goldsmiths College.

Julia previously worked as a Youth Worker for Elevate.
