The level of support and fees will be negotiated on a case by case basis.
SkyWay, as a registered training provider, develops young people, known as “Peers”, aged 16+ years, to become trained and qualified in a range of areas related to youth work. The next stage in the development of the Peers is for them to find sessional work, supporting their younger peers in our neighbourhoods.
The developing ‘SkyWay Agency’ will work with young people aged 16 to 25 years, to support them to gain paid work experience in the areas of youth work, sports coaching, multi-media tutoring, and refereeing football and basketball.
Our Peers will be signed up to the ‘SkyWay Agency’ where a variety of work placements will be on offer.
The SkyWay Agency will operate as a stepping stone for these young people between training and the world of work. The Agency offers a safe, supported, structured opportunity to develop their skills and abilities in the world of work, whilst receiving a salary in recognition of the work they are undertaking.
The Agency is a medium term option for Peers to explore the world of work. Once they have gained in confidence and ability, they will be supported to find suitable employment in their areas of interest and encouraged to think about becoming self-employed, gaining further paid employment and developing their own small business or social enterprise.
SkyWay can offer tailored workshops to organisations and schools in a range of topics. These workshops are created and delivered by trained Peer Workers who have a track record of running workshops and one to one sessions in schools and youth clubs.
The topics include:
As part of the Peer training programme, new Peers are required to take on work experience. If you are looking for some extra support in your organisation then why not consider a Peer Worker, who is keen and willing to gain work experience.
